CPT for PTSD
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD is designed for individuals who have Posttraumatic Stress Disorder or another trauma-related condition. It focuses on identifying the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Your provider will help you examine how traumatic events changed your thoughts and beliefs, notice what is keeping you “stuck” or blocking recovery, then work with you on modifying these to create more realistic beliefs.
CPT for PTSD takes place over an average of 12 sessions and requires regular practice outside of session. This practice has you use the skills learned in sessions throughout the week to build mastery and facilitate change. Sessions can take place weekly or multiple times a week depending on your preference.
CPT for PTSD is evidence-based, meaning rigorous scientific research has been carried out. This reach has shown CPT for PTSD is a highly effective modality for treating PTSD. You can learn more about CPT for PTSD on their website.

EMDR Therapy
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy. EMDR uses bilateral movements, such as eye movements or tapping, to help reduce the intensity of trauma memories and associated emotions. During EMDR treatment you work with a trained therapist who guides you through each stage of the process.
Research has shown EMDR is an effective form of treatment for trauma recovery and can also support individuals seeking treatment for anxiety, OCD, depression, addiction, and chronic pain. You can learn more about EMDR treatment on EMDR International Association’s website.
We offer this therapy modality in two ways. The first is by using EMDR techniques during your weekly therapy sessions. The second format is an EMDR Intensive. These take place over two days and allow you to focus on healing in a shorter time period. Learn more about EMDR Intensives in the next section.
EMDR Intensive Facts
Meet your Intensive Provider
Crystal Rainey in an EMDR certified therapist who specializes in working with individuals age 4 and up who have experienced trauma. Hear about her work in her own words:
“ I do this work, because I am passionate about helping people recover from trauma. I show up as my genuine self and approach therapy as a collaborative process throughout all eight phases of EMDR. Clients come to me for hope that their symptoms will improve. They have often tried talk therapy, and although they found some benefits, it did not relieve all of their trauma symptoms. When you enter the therapy room, I will meet you where you are at and we will work together to identify your goals and create your path towards healing.”
What is an EMDR Intensive?
Weekly therapy can be a positive, consistent support during the recovery process, however, there are times when it can be helpful to focus on healing in a shortened time frame. In an EMDR Intensive you will meet with your provider for a total of 6 hours over 2 days. This allows for more in depth processing in a shorter time period. Prior to the Intensive you will have an intake session to share about your history. You will also have preparatory sessions to discuss your overall goal for the EMDR Intensive and what to expect.
What is the Cost?
If you have an insurance carrier our practice accepts, insurance can be used to cover your intake session as well as traditional 50-to-60-minute EMDR sessions. If you are interested in an EMDR Intensive, insurance can be used to cover part of the cost. For EMDR Intensives, insurance can cover your intake session and any preparatory sessions you have before your intensive. If you have an insurance provider we are not in network with, we can provide you with a Superbill to submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement. Insurance does not cover the cost of the intensive sessions. Prior to starting we will provide you with a good faith estimate, so you are aware of all costs before starting treatment.
